Together with students, art teachers and schools, I have been realizing art in construction projects at schools since 2019. Directly "tailor-made" and adapted to the possibilities of the schools and their needs.
Duration: 3-5 days // Target group: Classes 6-13 Scope of action: The space directly at, in and around the school. Temporary or permanent artistic interventions that aim to generate artistically sophisticated added value for the quality of stay in, on and around the school.
PROCEDURE In the best case, the teachers and the headmaster determine a place on, in or around the school building, where we can then work together. It can be a temporary work that can be easily dismantled, or it can also be a work that can remain there permanently. This must be clarified and determined in advance. Then on the first day, together with the class, we set ourselves the task of developing an exciting and, above all, feasible art in construction work for this specific location. The process of developing an idea is guided by me and stimulated with example images. My cooperation ensures that the project succeeds and that a good artistic quality is achieved. We will develop a concept together in a "brainstorming session" with the whole class. Various suggestions are checked for the requirements: how easy/difficult is it to implement, what is achieved, is it within the budget, how can we as a class implement this together? Then small models of the project are built. It is possible to divide the estimated week into two blocks. A conception and model construction phase and e.g. three days for the realization. If necessary, this must be planned for the procurement of materials.
