A memorial is usually understood as a traditional pictorial form of memorization that is less concerned with what people encounter on a daily basis and what happens in their experiential space. […] The artist has tracked down numerous park benches donated by relatively unknown people and created an “archive for immaterial monuments” that is not dedicated to history, but to many stories of people in the experience of the city of Kiel. Nothing is presented that distorts one's own imagination. Rather, it brings perspectives and backgrounds to the fore. The figure of what monuments stand for becomes the voice, which functions as a medium of reviving memory. […]
